Australia's states and territories often nominate competent persons for work-related immigration to Australia. The nominations are made possible through the Skilled Nominated Visa (Subclass 190). How to Get the Skilled Nominated Subclass 190 Visa?

For five years from the date of Visa acceptance, you are permitted to travel from abroad to Australia and from Australia to overseas several times. After 5 years, you will need an RRV – Resident Return Visa: Subclass 57 or 155 to re-enter Australia as a Permanent Resident.

You must be able to meet the points score criterion indicated in your Letter of Invitation. It will be 65 points or higher. The score is determined by the information provided in your EOI. At the time of getting the ITA for the Visa, you must be able to fulfill the criteria for a points score.

Receive ITA - Invitation to Apply

Only if you obtain an ITA from DHA may you apply for a Subclass 190 Visa. You must submit an EOI to alert the DHA of your intent to apply for this Visa. After filing your EOI, you may be nominated by a State or Territory Government in Australia.

Receive nomination

For this Visa, you must be nominated by a state or territory government in Australia. To do so, you must submit an EOI using the Skill Select site. These government authorities can review your EOI and recommend you for a visa.

If you are nominated, you must get an Invitation to Apply from DHA. The following are the many State and Territorial Governments whose agencies have distinct nomination criteria.

Your application becomes invalid if your nomination is withdrawn by the State or Territorial agency after you apply. 

Obtain an appropriate skills assessment

Only if you state that you have gotten an acceptable evaluation of abilities at the time of getting the ITA will your Visa application be legitimate. When submitting your application, you must include a copy of the skills assessment.

The following are also acceptable as evidence of skill evaluation for legal and medical practitioners:

You must have completed the skills exam within the previous three years of getting the ITA. If the assessment obtained was for a shorter term, that period must not have expired.

Be lesser than this age

When you acquire the ITA for the Subclass 190 Visa, you must be under the age of 45. If you reach the age of 45 after receiving the ITA, you can still file the Visa application.

If you reach the age of 45 after submitting your EOI but before getting your ITA, you will not be invited to apply.

Be capable to secure 65 points or higher

The Skilled Nominated Subclass Visa 190 is a points-based Australia PR visa. Following the submission of your EOI in the Skill Select portal, you will be granted points based on the claims you make in it. If you do not have a minimum of 65 points, you will not be sent an ITA for this Visa.

When the DHA approves your Visa application, it will provide the number of points you need to score on the invitation. This score might be higher than 65 points depending on the allegations in your EOI.

Have this proficiency in the English language

You must have minimum competent level proficiency in English at the time of receiving the ITA. 

Fulfill the skills requirement

Your occupation must be present on the appropriate list of qualified skilled occupations for the Subclass 190 Visa. 

Fulfill the health requirement

You and any accompanying family members must meet the stipulated health conditions for this Visa. Non-traveling family members to Australia may be required to meet the requirement if requested.

Fulfill the character requirement

For this Visa, you and any accompanying family members over the age of 16 must meet the required character standards. Non-traveling family members to Australia must also meet these criteria.

Have settled any debts owed to the Australian government

If you and your accompanying and non-accompanying family members apply for this Visa, you must repay or arrange repayment of any debt owed to the Australian government.
